CEC 2025 Election INformation
Candidate Forum: TUES. April 8th, 2025




The Community Education Council (CEC) is made up of nine volunteer parents from District 30. They are elected for two-year terms by families in District 30 schools and two CEC members are appointed by the Borough President. One additional member is a non-voting High School senior. Elected parents must have a child in a District school (charter school parents are not eligible).
The CEC’s responsibilities are set by NY State Law, and include:
Recommend School Capitol Improvements
Collaborate on Evaluation of the Superintendent
Approving changes to zoning lines as submitted by the Superintendent
Hold at least 1 public meeting per month with the Superintendent
Serve as a liason for schools in the District
Assisting SLTs (School Leadership Team)
Holding public forums and helping connect parents with resources through presentations at their monthly meetings.
At each monthly meeting there is a report from the Community District Superintendent and an opportunity for the public to voice their concerns.
